CLA 250, about 27000 miles. Yearly maintenance. Code : A7 I was looking for reliable inexpensive (not too cheap) oil change and maintenance service for my wife's car. Last year, we paid $450 for engine oil and cabin filter ( thought expensive but I wasn't sure). Last week, I swing by this shop and ask how much it would be to change the engine oil. One of workers says it will probably be around $150 but he isn't sure because he is only the worker, the owner wasn't there. I thought it was very reasonable price even to a couple of hundred. I called and made an appointment and dropped off my car. They were still out for mobile service I had to leave my car there. On the phone, I told I need an oil change service and estimate for other maintenance service if it needs. I got a phone call 2-3 hours later (thought the oil change is done). He gave me an estimate for A7 maintenance, it costs $1960. Oil change $350, Cabin filter: $150, wiper $, brake oil $, Trans oil $ and Inspection $215. So I asked if you can do only engine oil service, he said that it costs $350+$215= $565. My wife want me to pick up the car right away. I had to pay $215. I'm not trying to complain about the price and I know some people charge more. However, the $215 fee wasn't explained before brought the car there. For this kind of service, the shop should tell their customers about the fees.
Hi Peter I’ve never had a customer drop of their car asking for maintenance to be performed and then completely decline everything. I spent an honest hour inspection on your car as per MB recommendation to determine its needs. Quoted those needs and called you to explain them. You now know exactly what your car needs to be safe and reliable. I feel it’s fair to ask to be paid for the service I provide. It’s up to you to maintain your vehicle, I just informed you of it’s needs. Thank you for your feedback In the future I will advise everyone of the minimum inspection fees if they choose not to do what’s recommended.
